To begin, I want to thank all of you who came to the Memorial Service for our dear Carol Schwartz.
Her death marked a sad day for the League, but her amazing life, as shared so generously by her family,
will provide comfort to us all. I learned much about Carol through the remarks made by her friend, her
brother, her children, and her Rabbi that I did not know. My admiration for her was increased and my
memories of her made more full.

We appreciate and thank Judy as she represented DSL with a wonderful telling of Wilford Gordon
McDonald Partridge at the Service. It was a perfect choice and so well told !

Sadly, Carol's passing reminds us of the loss of our Bobs earlier, so let me just say : "We will have no
more of this ! "

Now, onto the newsiness ...

Remember the approaching meeting on the 20th at the Downtown Farmington Library.

We will have our usual incredible Hostesses, our outstanding Maestro, our amazing tellers, and a
Very Special Workshop given by Ming Louie entitled "Storytelling with Puppets".

I am looking forward to this ! Please feel free to invite friends and use this meeting as an Introduction to
Detroit Story League !

During the Business (old, new, and Monkey) portion of the meeting, we will be presenting some "think
about" changes to the Constitution and By-Laws. These are primarily adjustments made concerning
out-dated items. There will be no discussion, no opinion, no vote at this meeting. The material simply
has to be presented. You then, think, ponder, and prepare for the discussion, et al that follows at the
April mtg. Please take a look at the Constitution and By-Laws as contained in your Yearbook, and if
you have any add'l thoughts, please contact Gail Gilman (our VP) who will be presenting these
modifications.

Also, remember that Barbara Clark now has the DVD/CD/whatever the heck it is, available for
distribution. They are free for placing, but if you want one for personal use, the cost is $5/ea.

A thought : As my promise to Carol following her Workshop "Writing Personal Stories" I am working
on writing the stories of particular memories of each of my Grandparents as I remember them from my
childhood. Of course, I am now inundated with these memories !

I was talking to my daughter about this recently, and she challenged me to prepare them as a Book for presentation at our Family Reunion this summer. I have taken that challenge. And I pass it to you :
Prepare a story (or 2 or 3 or more) in a written format that can then be given to the next generation so
that they may "know" their past. A great Christmas gift and free for the doing.

So, with that, join hands and we will sing one chorus of "Kumbaya" ... ;o)
